Pigasus has arrived (sort of) Shameless plug

Finally got all the ducks in a row. The books are here, the publicity is out.
Pigasus is having its first author signing event this weekend.

Tony Korol-Evans, author of the brand new Renaissance Festivals: Merrying the Past and Present will be at the booth this weekend, both days.  You can meet the author, and even buy your very own autographed copy.

Skimmed the book last night (the shipment only got here yesterday)--a very interesting look at the Maryland faire from the perspective of how and why does it work for patrons and performers. And it's even got pictures in it.

PS:  Pigasus does do mail orders.

Snarkometer readings high

I just got a popup ad which annoyed me--and the same thing has annoyed me before, so you're stuck with reading this:

Schools of all kinds now routinely note "Financial aid available to those who qualify"
Now, are we to assume that in the past financial aid was given to the unqualified or what? There's some kind of legal thing going on in the past, just like the warning label "Caution, this product may contain peanuts" on packages of peanuts.

Wonko the Sane, where are you when we need you?
